The final step in this Emergency Preparedness Planning Process is to get yourself informed about what to do before, during, and after an emergency. FEMA's In-Depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness helps you do this. This 200 page book covers disasters including: Earthquakes, Floods, Tornadoes, Hurricanes, Thunderstorms and Lightning, Fires, Wildfires, Winter Storms and Extreme Cold, Extreme Heat, Volcanoes, Landslides and Debris Flows, Tsunamis, and even Toxic Hazards.

The Citizens Guide to Emergency Preparedness

Are You Ready? Is an in-depth guide to citizen preparedness? It was developed by FEMA and is available to everyone for FREE. This guide is designed primarily to educate individuals and families about how to prepare and react should disaster strike. The chapters in this book are organized by disaster type. While it’s probably a good idea to read the entire book, you can probably skip chapters that are not relevant to the area you live in. For example, if you live in an inland state, you can probably skip the chapter on Tsunamis.

This book not only informs you on what to do during a disaster, but it also provides information about preparing your home, caring for animals, and many other informative topics. After reading this book, and completing prior two steps in the three step process, your can say…”Yes, I’m Ready!”
