This affordable Basic Emergency Preparedness Backpack Kit is designed to provide four people with essential emergency supplies for three days (72 hours). That's how long FEMA estimates it can take emergency services and personnel to reach you in the event of a disaster. This kit is most suitable for those who believe they will need to leave their home in the event of a disaster.

Supplies in this home kit are stored inside a heavy-duty nylon backpack with 5 pockets. This kit features emergency food and water, first-aid kit and an AM/FM radio with built-in LED flashlight (batteries included). The food and water rations in this emergency kit have a 5 year shelf life and are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Canadian Transport Authority.

Note that this Basic Emergency Preparedness Backpack Kit contains just essential emergency supplies and other supplies are needed to make this kit compliant with FEMA's Guidelines. This kit is great for those wanting to build a custom kit using additional items from Essential Packs or with items already owned.

This food ration is made with non-thirst provoking ingredients and has a pleasant apple-cinnamon flavor. In addition, it's safe for vegetarians and those allergic to nuts and/or nut oils. This ration stays preserved in environments with temperatures up to 149 degees F.
